Well over 100 Pi Delta Fraters gathered to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Pi Delta Chapter. The weekend began on March 27 with a casual cook-out at the Pi Delta Chapter House. Active Fraters enjoyed socializing with Alumni spanning the decades. Then, the next morning, the scheduled golf tournament was replaced with an outing to Vestavia Bowl due to inclimate weather. Frater Scott Barnett, Pi Delta 54, bowled the high score of 164. The weekend culminated with the Anniversary Banquet at the Birmingham Sheraton. The semi-formal event was maxed to capacity as Fraters and guest listened to captivating speeches by the Andrew Stone, Active Prytanis, Pi Delta 407; Tripp Warren, Grand Province Advisor and Pi Delta Chapter Advisor, Pi Delta 411; Andy Marsch, UAB Student Life; and Benny Bliss, Pi Delta Founder. Mike Hobbs, Pi Delta 189, acted as emcee for the evening and kept things moving along, and we were glad that he was able to join us! Frater David Bala, Pi Delta 448, prepared a video of recent chapter history for the event. Also, the annual Pi Delta Chapter Awards were presented. Following the banquet dinner, guests enjoyed a closing reception with a live band. One event of note during the closing reception was that active serenaded alumni and vice versa with some traditional TKE songs…”Yo Ho” and “Fraters, Fraters, Fraters,” respectively. The evening ended with all Fraters joining in Rappa Tappa. The event was a great success thanks to the help of many individuals, but special thanks goes to Patrick Tatum, Joshua Waldrop, and Jason Hall for their hardwork and dedication to the project.

On, March 20, 2009, the Pi Delta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Kappa Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi held their 2nd annual mixer: TOGA TOGA, Part II. Brothers dawned their best toga wear and headed to Matthew’s Bar & Grill on Morris Avenue for another outrageous night out with the Ques. Our very own Andrew Williams was on the turntables providing music for the all-night throwdown. This annual event is one not to be missed!

Here at the Pi Delta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon, we are staying busy and having lots of fun. On Thursday, we joined the ladies of Alpha Xi Delta down at the Bowling Alley for a little bit of nerdy fun. Everyone took the theme pretty seriously and had a really great time. I never wanna see that many suspenders or pocket protecters ever again. Thanks a lot ladies, it’s always a pleasure. -TKE

To close out TKE Week, Tau Kappa Epsilon threw the most exclusive cocktail party of the semester: Tau Kappa Epsilon’s Red and Black Masquerade Ball! The party was a strict guest-list only event, with black and red attire being required! Of course, everyone dressed to impress, including some interesting masks to go with the masquerade theme. Everyone enjoyed partying in a classy way to celebrate the end of TKE Week! The turnout this weekend was great, and we are looking forward to formal rush, “Lights Out” and other events we have going on throughout the semester.
