For the past couple of months, TKE has been volunteering at the Birmingham Zoo. We have performed various tasks around the zoo, such as creating new exhibits, cleaning up around exhibits, and adding to current exhibits. So far we have worked on two Saturdays during the summer, including Saturday, August 7. The people in the Birmingham Zoo have been extremely accepting of us and it has been really fun giving back to the community!

The 2010 Red Carnation Ball was held at the beautiful Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort in Birmingham on April 2. Brothers and their dates were presented a delicious meal and the Awards ceremony followed. This year’s sweetheart, Sara Leu, was announced and presented with Red Carnations. After dinner, the Pi Delta Chapter was honored to have one of our most legendary Alumni, Craig Vincent (aka Diesel) to provide our light and sound show. Many Alumni remember his fantastic light and sound show at the old TKE house near UAB Highlands. He calls it the “Exterminator” and it was truly something to experience. Thanks Craig for a great job!

Last Sunday, November 15, the Pi Delta brothers initiated 20 new brothers into the ranks of Tau Kappa Epsilon. After making it through eight weeks of learning about the Fraternity and the local chapter, the associate members were ready to officially become brothers. While in this eight weeks period under the leadership of Frater Dom Stella, the new members learned about the six focal points of TKE, Scholarship, Leadership, Teamwork, Character, Brotherhood, and Service. With each week came a new focal point which the new members learned about and actively participated in demonstrating. The new members also learned about the current brothers and other current chapter activities. TKE Nation should be very proud to welcome these 20 new members into the Bond.
