Parker is a sophomore from Hixson, TN majoring in Biology.  Kyle is a freshman from Madison, AL with an undeclared major at this time.

Welcome to Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, UAB’s best!!

Since St. Jude is Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity’s national philanthropy, it was exciting to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause.  It is Pi Delta chapter’s intent to make this an annual event, to build on successes in the past, and continue to make this bigger and better each year.  Congratulations for a great event in 2012 and looking forward to an even greater event in 2013.

Pi Delta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon has once again won several coveted Greek Awards at the 2012 Annual Greek Awards ceremony on Sunday, April 15.  Among the categories that were recognized during this event, TKE won the Scholastic Achievement Award for highest GPA among IFC fraternities, the Greek Advisor Cup for Scholarship Award, and the UAB National Alumni Society Alumni Development Award for our work in getting Alumni engaged in chapter success.  But the highlight of the evening occurred with TKE, once again, winning the prestigious Dr. Aaron L. Lamar Jr. Chapter of Excellence Award, recognizing the IFC fraternity that exhibits overall chapter excellence.  Congratulations to the brothers of Pi Delta for an excellent year!!

The combination of the Birmingham Zoo Lodge and a beautiful Spring day was a perfect setting for the annual Pi Delta Parents Day on March 10.  The turnout and the food was great and all that attended enjoyed the afternoon.  This event not only allowed the brothers to meet other parents, but it gave the fraternity the opportunity to showcase all the great things it has been involved in, from philanthropy events to awards received.  Thanks go out to all the brothers that made this year’s event such a success.

RCB 2012 was held on Friday, March 16 at the Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham.  This year’s event consisted of a buffet dinner, awards ceremony and a dance.  Music was provided by DJ, Tommy Bowen.  The following awards were given:  Best New Member – Thomas Rives, Sportsmanship – Robert Mann, Most Improved Member – Will Barone, Top Alumnus – James “Tripp” Warren, Love, Charity and Esteem Award – Nate Ennis, Apollo Award – Greg Van Wagner, Top Committee Chairman – Eric George, Chapter Sweetheart – Madison Webb, and Chapter Top Teke – Josh Waldrop.  Each graduating senior gave departing remarks which both motivated and challenged the chapter to continue in its path for greatness.  Kudos go out to the RCB committee and chairman, Lane McCaig for the hard work to make this formal such a success!!

Pi Delta Chapter initiated 21 new Candidate Members into the bond of our fraternity on November 13, 2011.  Included in this Fall 2011 Initiation class is: Michael Ceballos, Ryan Cook, Jon Garner, John Gatling, Scott Gilliland, Matt Harel, Dillon Hinton, Zach Hughes, Ryan Johnson, John Kunka, Taylor Lane, Jeremiah Leslie, Dakota Massey, Joseph Muhafza, Sope Oguntuyo, Sasank Peramsetty, Tushar Ramesh, Jake Roy, John Stender, Chris Umberger, and Chris Wasmoen.  Congratulations guys and welcome into our brotherhood!!!

Pi Delta just returned from the 56th Biennial Conclave of Tau Kappa Epsilon, held in San Antonio, TX on August 4-7.  In a repeat performance, the UAB Tekes won five (5) International Leadership Excellence Awards for 2011.  These included Academic Excellence, Extracurricular Activities, Philanthropy, Alumni Relations and Chapter Recruitment – Chapter Size. Only approximately 15-20 chapters in the TKE Nation are recognized in each of these categories. Although the chapter did not bring home the coveted “Top TEKE” chapter award, we now have two (2) solid years of results that will help us once again go to the next level and work towards bringing home the top award.  Also announced was the site of the 57th Biennial Conclave, which will be held in August of 2013 in Washington, D. C.  Congratulations fraters on another job well done!!
